Our approach to patient care is based on the principles of Traditional Oriental Medicine. We are all whole beings ingrained with the innate ability to heal ourselves. Using the approach of least invasiveness first, I aim to stimulate the bodies own ability to heal. With Acupuncture, massage, dietary and lifestyle modifications, and herbal medicine, I encourage a higher "baseline" of health and happiness. The patient is not only helped with immediate concerns, but also emerges with a plan to best avoid future problems.

Q: What is acupuncture?
A: Acupuncture is the insertion of fine needles into the body at specific points proven effective in the treatment of a correlating health problem. These points have been mapped by the Chinese over a period of three thousand years. Recently, electromagnetic research has confirmed their locations.
For your peace of mind, I use pre-sterilized, disposable, single use needles.
Q: How does acupuncture work?
A: Traditional acupuncture is based on ancient Chinese theories of the flow of Qi (Energy) and blood flow through distinct meridians or pathways which cover the entire body somewhat like the nerves and blood vessel do. Acupuncture allows QI to flow to areas which are deficient and away from areas where Qi is in excess. When you receive a treatment, your brain receives a signal as the needle is positioned. The brain responds by increasing blood cell counts and various other immune system elements. These elements can stay elevated for up to three days following an acupuncture treatment. Endorphins and enkephalins are well known neurotransmitters that stop pain and increase a feeling of well-being.
Q: Does acupuncture hurt?
A: Unlike the needles used to give injections, acupuncture needles are extremely fine-only two times the width of a single hair. They are designed to enter the skin with the least resistance. Most patients are surprised to discover that the treatments involve little to no pain and are very relaxing. You can expect to feel a slight tingling, heaviness, numbness, or warmth at or near the acupuncture site.
Q: How many treatments willi need?
A: Everyone and their condition is different. Acute problems may be resolved in a single session. Chronic problems will usually respond within 4-6 treatments.
The total number of treatments depends upon: -The severity of the condition
-How long the condition has existed
-Your overall state of health, energy and motivation for lifestyle changes
For prevention of future health problems, a treatment once every month is suggested to keep the body in optimal condition.
“I love the environment at Vasseur spa in downtown. It's mellow and the people there are great. They don't try to cram people in, so when you arrive nothing is rushed.”
